Swift Mozzies
2022
Calico, cotton, wool, ink. White frame.
33 × 28cm
Lounging in the camper armchair. Masterfoods tomato sauce bottle holding the seersucker tablecloth down on the splintered, bird-poo-splattered park table. BBQ snag in no-name white bread rolling about a paper plate balanced on my knees. Chilled can of fizzy sarsaparilla in hand. Watching an energetic game of frisbee. Deafening cicadas. Conversations on politics and supermarket specials. Warm air carrying the scent of perfectly over caramelised, aka burnt, onions and sunscreen. And then there’s the mozzies… Ahh the serenity of a lazy summer evening.
Typed with vintage typewriter onto vintage calico found in op-shops and second hand craft stores. Calico pieces intuitively sewn into prose patchworks with dyed wool felt pieces hand sewn into place.
