Prose patchworks

Drawing on her past experiences working as an emergency nurse as well as reflecting on childhood, motherhood and friendships, Hollie seeks to understand how the big and not-so-biggest everyday moments weave their way through our lives to become the fabric of our humanness.

Hollie types snippets of conversations, observations and memories with her vintage typewriters onto scraps of found calico and intuitively sews the pieces of fabric together to form “prose patchworks”.

Written without context, the text in these works are interpreted through the lens of the reader’s own perspectives and beliefs and highlight the deeper, softer parts of ourselves that may not be immediately seeable.
